The latest revolution in agricolture is growing plants on layered vertical structures, also known as "Vertical Farming", which is is estimated to reach USD 11.2 billion by 2028. Typically close to large urban centers, they can be set in a wide range of environments, like shipping containers, tunnels and parking lots, while using advanced technologies to integrate LED lights replacing sun rays, closed-loop water recycling and no pesticides. They seem to offer a valid answer to the increasing problem of the global population feeding and energy consumption.
